Accuracy of classifier:

Map was created based on published information about species distribution and cultivation. Accuracy is on the level of oblast.

Method of map production:

Map based on research data (State list, 1994, 2004) and map of vegetable cultivation for the USSR (Agricultural, 1960). Area covers almost all arable territory of the USSR; the main regions of cultivation cover south and moderate zones (1983; Kazakova, 1987; Bekseev, 1998), including Central-Chernozem regions, Transcaucasia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Far East, Nothern Caucasus, Western Siberia (Agafonov, 1984).
