Accuracy of map:

It is created on materials of map of natural scale 1:33 000 000.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR ", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map having three layers, where the area of sunflower and zones of severity of Black Stem are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

In the sunflower area within the former USSR, two zones of severity of Black Stem are determined; i.e., the zone of high severity, where crop losses reach 25% on the average, and the zone of moderate severity, where crop losses usually do not exceed 10% (Yakutkin, 2005).

Method of map production:

Published materials are used for map drawing (Tikhonov, 1975; Kukin, 1982; Yakutkin, 2005). Zone of high severity of the disease includes the Northern Caucasus, Central Black Soil Region, and the Middle Volga Region of Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. Zone of moderate severity of phomosis includes all other regions of Russia and Kazakhstan where sunflower is cultivated. Specification of phomosis area and severity zones is made on vector map of regions of the sunflower greatest distribution according to I.E. Koroleva et al. (2003).
