Date of creation:

20.05.2005.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

Map was created based on materials of a map with scale 1:33 000 000, on the basis of information taken from literature.

Projection:

.Alber.s Equal Conic for the USSR., 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of recorded mass outbreak are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Within the area of distribution only a zone of low damage was established according to the damage extent to fruit crops. The threshold of harmfulness of H. flava on fruiters is 3-4 eggs per 100 flowers or fruitlets. In the zone of low damage the population density of H flava rarely exceeds the threshold of harmfulness (Ermolenko, 1984).

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. The map of the area was based on the following publications: Batiashvili (1959), Nutt (1967), Mirzoyan (1970), Vasil'ev (1973), Zhelokhovtsev (1988), Zhelokhovtsev, Zinov.ev (1995). The area includes the European part north to Baltic States, eastward nearly to Ural, and the Caucasus. The borders of the damage zone were determined according to the following sources: Gusev et al. (1962), Nutt (1967), Mirzoyan (1970), Vasil'ev (1973), Tryapitsyn & Zhelokhovtsev (1981), Ermolenko (1984). The zone of low damage is comprised of the territory of the plum and cherry plum growing within the area of H. flava.
