Basic contents:

Vector map. Area and zone of mass outbreak are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Within the distribution area, zones of mass outbreak have been identified based on periodicity of pest population outbreaks and frequency of gregarious phase is different for each zone, used as a classifier for each zone. Borders are dynamic, depending on pest migrations, population density, extent of cultivated area and weather conditions, but can spread as far as 300 km from the center of mass outbreaks. Area was defined using the published maps of Lachininskii et al. (2002). Zones based on foci of mass outbreaks were determined according to Polyakov (1975).

Method of map production:

Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast's are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map. Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized.
