Date of creation:

14.12.2003.

Scale:

1:20,000,000.

Exactness of map:

Map was created using herbarium specimen data and on a map to the scale of 1:13,000,000.

The projection:

Basic contents:

Map is a vector file consisting of polygons and points. Points represent locations of species; areas of possible distribution of species are represented by polygons.

Accuracy of classifier:

Species location data were obtained from an electronic database developed by the N.I. Vavilov Institute (1992) and from published maps (Grossgheim, 1940).

Method of map production:

Published literature was reviewed, including atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist, together with the GIS specialist, drew a new plant distribution area based on compiled data. Map boundaries were determined according to Grossgeim (1940). The westernmost location of the species was not included in the general area because supplementary field investigations are needed to confirm the distribution of this species in this territory.
