Maps were created using generalized information about species distribution from published sources. Map is on the Oblast level.Mapping procedure:
The area map was created using published data (Atlas, 1960; State list, 1994, 2004 etc.) and the arable territory map of the USSR (Koroljeva et al, 2003). Species is cultivated within the former USSR mainly in Middle Asia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Moldova, and southern Kazakhstan (Gazenbush, 1958; Vekhov, 1978; Soboleva, 1979; Zhuleva, Cherenok, 2002). There are also plantings in southern Russia and in the Far East (Vekhov, 1978).Sources of data:
