Vector maps. Areas of distribution and industrial cultivation of species are represented by polygons. Places with insignificant cultivation are represented by points.Accuracy of classifier:
Maps were created on the basis of generalized information about species distribution from published sources (accurate to regions) taking into account map of gardens for USSR.Method of map production:
The area map was created on the basis of the garden distribution map for USSR (Atlas., 1960) and literature data (Bahteev, 1970; Catalogue, 1991; Lihonos, Tuz, 1983; Fiodorov, 1954; Flora of USSR, 1941; Lyubimova, Totubalina, 1986; Pear, 1983; Vitkovskij; 2003). The northern border of industry cultivation of pear in the European part of FSU goes by line: Volochisk - Khmelnitsky - Vinnitsa - Uman' - Krivoj Rog - Zaporozh'e - Rostov - Astrakhan'; then into Middle Asia by line Krasnovodsk - Nukus - Chimkent - Taraz (Dzambul) - Panfilov. The gardens which have industrial value are distributed in Belorussia and Baltic States also. Area of unindustrial cultivation covers almost total arable territory until the Altaj region. Area map was created in consultation with PhD in agriculture, head of Pyrus collection of VIR L.A. Burmistrov.Reference citations:
