Accuracy of classifier:

Map was created using generalized information about species distribution from published sources, taking into account the arable territory of the former USSR.

Mapping procedure:

The distribution area map was created using the arable territory map for the USSR (Koroljeva et al, 2003) and published data (State, 2004; Vehov, 1978; Litvina, 1962; Mamonov, 1963; Zinov'eva, 1965; Kormovye, 1988; Korenev, 1990; Rep.ev, 1999 and others). Distribution area within the former USSR covers almost all arable territory, but the largest areas are in Belarus and Ukraine. The species is cultivated in Transcaucasia and Tadzhikistan in limited areas. Consultation was provided by leading specialist in the Department of Grain Legumes, VIR, S.V. Bulyntsev, Ph.D.
