Area of distribution and zones of disease severity were determined from an analysis of open published materials. Zone of disease severity was subdivided into zones of high disease severity (disease occurs every 5th year) and moderate disease severity (occurs every 10th year).Method of map production:
Published literature was reviewed, including Atlases, monographs and papers. Occurrence data were obtained from herbarium specimens, floras, monographs and papers. Data were then compiled through scanning and geo-referencing to develop a composite vector map. The biologist, together with the GIS specialist, drew a composite disease distribution area based on compiled data. Chumakov & Martyanov's (1971) map is used as a basis for the map of Puccinia coronata with specifications by Transhel (1939). Borders of zones of disease severity were determined according to Chumakov (1971) with specifications for Kazakhstan according to Turapin & Druskeldinov (1992).Reference citations:
