Basic contents:

Vector map consisting of 4 thematic layers, where area and zones of severity are shown by polygon.

Accuracy of qualifier:

In the disease area the zone of high (more than 31% of tomatoes are affected by Late Blight), moderate (16-30%), and low (to 16%) severity are outlined. The zones are marked according to method by A.E.Chumakov & T.I.Zakharova (1990).

Procedure of map drawing:

The whole zone of industrial cultivation of tomatoes is included in the area of Late Blight according to G.P.Avedzhanova's cartographical materials (1971). Zones of severity are outlined on a blank map on the basis of data published in open literature (Glushchenko, 1971; Zakharova, 1973; Meladze, 1980; Osnitskaya, 1968, 1969,1970, 1971; Prodchenko, 1977). Baltic States, Byelorussia, Moldova, western and southern regions of Ukraine belong to the zone of high severity of the disease. In Russia this zone includes Northwest regions (Leningrad, Pskov, Novgorod, and Tver Regions), Moscow, Belgorod, and Rostov Regions, the Northern Caucasus and Transcaucasia, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, the Far East and Sakhalin. The zone of moderate severity covers Bryansk, Smolensk, Kaluga, Kursk Regions, Volga-Vyatka area, Western and Eastern Siberia. Low severity of the disease is marked in Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Ryazan, Orel, Tula, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Tambov, Volgograd, and Astrakhan Regions, and also in Dagestan and Kalmykia. Registration and vectoring of raster map depicting zones of severity of Late Blight on tomatoes are executed by standard means of GIS-technologies.
