Date of creation:

1:20,000,000.Accuracy of map:
Map was created based on map of natural scale 1:33,000,000.Projection:
"Alber's Equal Area Conic" 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.Basic contents:
Vector map is composed of 3 thematic layers. Zones of distribution and damage are shown by polygons.
Accuracy of classifier:
Insect area divided into zones of high and low damage that have been corrected according to maps of industrial and arable pea-growing. High damage zone includes regions with industrial pea fields characterized by periodic mass reproductions of the pest; high damage zone indicated by points 5 to 9; low damage zone (arable pea fields) indicated by points 1 to 3 (Palii, 1958).Method of map production:
Area and damage zones of A. pisum are marked on the blank map according to results of the analysis of published materials. The materials of VIZR expeditions are also used. The borders of different damage zones are given, using criteria that have been published by G.Kh. Shaposhnikov (1964), V.P. Vasil'ev (1973), A.A. Migulin (1983) and A.K. Mordvilko (1914). The northern border is marked according to results of the published research (Shaposhnikov, 1964; Vasil'ev, 1973), results of the analysis of hosts spreading based on the vegetation map in the Atlas of the USSR, and results of A. pisum temperature preference. Aphids were observed near 69 N latitude (Ivanovskaya, 1977). The southern border of the territory of the former Soviet Union is also marked according to the published materials (Nevskii, 1929; Eremenko, 1967). Vector maps of pea and arable lands distribution within the territory of the former Soviet Union are also used for the correction of damage zones (Koroleva et al., 2003). The map was scanned, registered and vectorized using GIS-technology.Reference citations:
