The insect area was divided into 2 zones: the zone of low damage, where the size of pest populations is usually lower than the economic threshold (3 beetles per 1 sq. m); and the zone of high damage, where it is often much higher than this level.

Method of map production:

The borders of insect area and damage zones were determined according to results of the analysis of published text materials (Shchegolev, 1955; Zakhvatkin & Isaichev, 1992; Ermolenko, 1971; Vinogradova, 1969; Vinogradova & Pozdnukhova, 1971; Kryzhanovskii, 1974; Chenkin & Grivanov, 1974; Sagitov & Ismukhambetov, 2004; Pavlov, 1987; etc.). Cartographical materials are absent in listed and other publications.
