Date of creation:

10.07.2007

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of map:

It is created on materials of map of natural scale 1:33 000 000.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map is composed of 3 thematic layers. Zones of distribution and damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

The insect area is divided into zones of high and low damage using the published materials (Bogdanov-Kat'kov, 1920; Yanushevskii, 1966; Askaraliev, 1968; Polyakov et al., 1989; Bogdanov, 1990). The zone of low damage includes regions that are characterized by periodical increase of numbers of the Cabbage Aphid on white cabbage not enhancing 30 individuals per plant (in the head formation growth stage at 25% and less populated plants), i.e., according to points 1-2; the zone of high damage is characterized by the insect numbers 70 and more individuals per plant (at 50% and more populated plants), i.e., according to points 3 and higher (Drakhovskaya, 1962; Askaraliev, 1968).

Method of map production:

The area and damage zones of B. brassicae have been marked on a blank map by results of the analysis of the published materials. The northern border has been also marked after the published materials (Shaposhnikov, 1964; Ivanovskaya, 1976; Migulin, 1983), being coincided with the northern border of the forest zone. The species is observed widely (except for the Far North). The borders of zones of different pest damage are given, using criteria that have been published by V.V.Kosov & I.Ya.Polyakov (1958); N.F.Pashchenko (1961); V.E.Yanushevskii (1966); Kh.Askaraliev (1968); I.Ya.Polyakov (1989); V.V.Bogdanov (1990). Low harming activity is reported in Byelorussia, Northwestern Ukraine, Central regions of the European part of Russia, in most territory of Northern Kazakhstan, and in Siberia. Highest harming activity is marked in forest-steppe and steppe zones of the European part of Russia and Ukraine, in Moldova, Middle Asia, Kazakhstan (mainly in southern regions), Transcaucasia, Primorskii Territory, Amur Basin region. The vector map of distribution of white cabbage within the territory of the former Soviet Union has been also used for the correction of damage zones (Terekhina, 2004).
