Date of creation:
20.12.2006.Scale:
1:20 000 000.Accuracy of the map:
It is based on materials of the map with scale 1:33 000 000, using the information taken from literature.Projection:
"Alber's Equal Conica for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.Basic content:
Vector map, which consists of three thematic layers. Area of distribution and zones of damage are shown by polygons.Accuracy of the classifier:
Threshold of harmfulness of the Tortoise Beetle in the grub and imago stages is one specimen per square meter on beet in plant growth stage 3 to 6 pairs of true leaves (Tanskii, 1986). Zones of low (1 to 30 individuals per square meter; no more than 45% averagely damaged plants) and high (more than 30 individuals per square meter, sometimes 100 individuals per one plant; 50-100% damaged plants) damage are distinguished within the pest area due to the expert appraisal of the data of the past years. High damage of the Tortoise Beetle was not observed during the last ten years (Gadzhieva, 2002; Sabluk et al., 1999, 2000, 2001; et al.).Method for map production:
Data from the publications are used for allocation of area and zones of the pest damage. The area map is based on publications of Minoranskii (1973), Gadzhieva (2002), Kokovikhin (1972), Zubkov (2003), Sabluk et al. (1999, 2000, 2001), Matis (1971), et al. In the Former Soviet Union Territory, the species is found everywhere (the northern area boundary lays in latitude 64-68°N). In Russia the zone of high damage includes Central-Chernozem zone, Ryazan Region, Tatarstan, Mordovia, North Ossetia, Krasnodar Territory, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Sverdlovsk, and Chelyabinsk Regions (Makarenko, 1962). Besides, it includes also Moldova and the central regions of Ukraine. The High Mountains and the zone of sandy deserts are excluded from the area. The zone low damage includes the territory of beet growing with the exception of the high damage zone. Boundaries of the damage zones are given according to the following works: Makarenko (1962), Minoranskii (1973), Gadzhieva (2002), Kokovikhin (1972), Zubkov (2003), et al. The pest damage zones are corrected according to the map of arable land distribution (Koroleva et al., 2003).Reference citations:
