Date of creation:

11.12.2007.

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of map:

It is created on information taken from the open published literature and maps of scale 1:33 000 000.

Projection:

"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.

Basic contents:

Vector map consisting of 2 layers. The area and zone of high pest damage are shown by polygons.

Accuracy of the classifier:

D. dipsaci is distributed everywhere in areas of onion and garlic growing. It causes the greatest damage (half reduced yield) in regions with the intensive cultivation of these cultures for food industry; i.e., in Yaroslavl', Nizhnii Novgorod, Ivanovo, Penza, Kirov Regions, and in Dagestan.

Method of map production:

The area of distribution and zone of highest severity of D.dipsaci (onion and garlic race) are marked, and the areas of its presence are shown on a blank map with the regions of onion and garlic growing and with political divisions of the Former Soviet Union. The results of 1960s surveys of fields in many regions by practical agricultural consultants and scientists (summarized by Nikulina, 1967, and Kir'yanova & Krall', 1971) have served as sources of the data.
