Area of Golden Nematode distribution was determined following an analysis of published references.

Mapping procedure:

Area of Golden Nematode distribution was drawn on a map of potato plantation distribution, as well as state and regional borders of CIS countries and the Baltic States. Data was primarily drawn from the reference book on quarantine phytosanitary states in the Russian Federation, published January 1, 2003. Distribution of the nematode in adjacent countries was determined using published data (Eglitis & Kaktynya, 1972; Ekhamaa, 1977; Sigareva et al., 1999; Karapetian et al., 1999; Anan.eva, 2003). Registration and vectoring of raster map were executed using standard GIS technologies.
