Vector map. Area of species distribution is shown by polygons. Zones of recorded mass outbreak and harmfulness are shown by polygons.Accuracy of classifier:
Within the area of distribution a zone of low damage is established, where population numbers reach 1-5 animals per 1 hectare on average.Method of map production:
Scientists were given maps with boundaries of Oblasts and arable lands. After reviewing historic literature, species distribution was hand drawn on maps. If data were on the Oblast-level, distribution is on the Oblast level. In some cases, Oblast.s are further refined by boundaries of the Arable Land Map (Koroljeva et al., 2003). Hand drawn maps were scanned, georeferenced and vectorized. In the north and north-west parts of the area the map of Yakovlev & Kolesnikov (1954) were used. In the South the map of Flint et al. (1970) was used and in the eastern part of that area the map of Pavlinov et al. (2002) was used to move that border northward. The limits of low damage harmfulness were determined according to Lukyanchenko (1954) as well as the limits of the Arable Lands Map (Korlojeva et al., 2003).Reference citations:
