Date of creation:
25.02.2008.Scale:
1:20 000 000Accuracy of map:
It is created on information taken from the open published literature and maps of scale 1: 33 000 000.Projection:
"Alber's Equal Area Conic for the USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0.Basic content:
Vector map consisting of 3 layers. Area and zones of damage are shown by polygons.Accuracy of the classifier:
Within the limits of general area on the territory of the former USSR, zones of high and moderate damage are allocated. T. tabidus and C. pygmaeus have similar biology and ecology, being counted simultaneously in regions of joint dwelling; therefore, united economic threshold is used for the two species (Dolzhenko, 2004). Area of high damage includes regions, where the insect outbreaks are very common, 20-50% of stems are infested, and the density of adults exceeds threshold (40-50 specimens per 100 net sweeps or 4 specimens per 1 sq.m.). In the zone of moderate damage, the population density of sawflies on grain cereals often reaches or exceeds the threshold under favorable weather conditions.Method of map production:
The map is compiled by results of the analysis of the open published materials. The species area and zones of damage are outlined according to reference and original data (Znamenskii, 1926; Gussakovskii, 1935; Zhelokhovtsev et al., 1988; Belyaev, 1974; Vinogradova, 1969, 1975; Vinogradova & Doronina, 1966; Popov, 1949; Golovko, 1975; Polyakov & Kopaneva, 1980; Minoranskii, 1989; Konstantinova, 1972; 1975; Narchuk & Tryapitsyn, 1981; Chernov, 1975; Shchegolev, 1926, 1931; etc.). Northern border of the area in the European part runs from the West along line Balta - Kremenchug - Krasnograd - Kupyansk - Starobel.sk - Kamyshin - Saratov - Ershov eastward to Russian-Kazakh border, being corrected along borders of steppe zone (Znamenskii, 1926; and latest references). There is a species record from West Siberia (Vasilenko, 2003); original material from this region has not been published and it is not included in the map. The zone of high damage includes Ukrainian Regions within steppe zone (Crimea, Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk). The zone of moderate damage embraces Rostov Region, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Lower Volga River region, and Transcaucasia; i.e., the major part of the species known area. Borders of both zones are corrected along the areas of industrial cultivation of grain crops (Koroleva et al., 2003).Reference citations:
