Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on data of 1:20 000 000 - 1:80 000 000 scale maps, specified according to herbarium materials.

Projection:

"Albers Equal-Area Conic Projection for USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of 1 basic and 2 subject layers. The species range is represented by a polygon and dots.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

The dots represent information on the species localities: 1 - reliable data from herbarium and published sources; the polygon (1) - generalized information on the species distribution from published sources and herbarium specimens.

Method of the map construction:

The data from the herbarium materials of LE and WIR, published data (Rozhevits, Shishkin, 1934; Fedorov, 1974), and published maps of the range (Meusel et al., 1965; Hulten, Fries, 1986) and the range parts (Shelyag-Sosonko, 1977; Malyshev, Peshkova, 1990) were used for constructing the range of Calamagrostis canescens. Our view on the species distribution in Russia and adjacent states mainly coincides with the treatment of the species distribution by Meusel et al. (1965), and Hulten, Fries (1986). The range consists of a polygon and dots. The polygon covers the the European part of the former USSR (except for Crimea and southern regions of Russia), Urals and West Siberia. Dots beyond polygon borders represent local localities of the species.
