Perennial grass 30.60 cm tall, forming loose mats with short creeping shoots. Leaves narrow and convolute. Ligule oblong, up to 6 mm long. Lower panicle branches equal to or much shorter than spikelet bunches placed on them; hence, the whole panicle narrow, spike-like. Lemma gradually turning into awn. Flowers in May - July. Anemophilous. 2n=14.Distribution.
