Perennial grass with short rhizomes, caespitose or not. Leaf blades folded, glabrous along outer edge. Sheathes are occluded almost to the top. Panicle is diffuse. Anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long. Ovary is pubescent at the top. Blossoms in June; seeds ripen in August. Cross-pollinated by wind. 2n = ?.Distribution.

Grows in wet meadows and on stony slopes in the upper mountain level.Utilization and economic value.
