Taxonomic position.

Family Poaceae Barnhart., genus Festuca L.

Biology and morphology.

Perennial grass with short rhizomes, caespitose or not. Leaf blades folded, glabrous along outer edge. Sheathes are occluded almost to the top. Panicle is diffuse. Anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long. Ovary is pubescent at the top. Blossoms in June; seeds ripen in August. Cross-pollinated by wind. 2n = ?.

Distribution.

Occurs in Eastern Siberia.

Ecology.

Grows in wet meadows and on stony slopes in the upper mountain level.

Utilization and economic value.

Good forage and pasture species for mountainous regions. Can be used for erosion control.
