Morphology and biology.

Long-term cereal. The plant forms small dense tussocks and creeping rhizomes. Stalks of height of 45-120 cm, in the bottom part rough from fine thornes. Leaves usually flat, green, soft, 2-4 mm of width, ligulas 2-2,5 mm of length. Panicle narrow, oblong, with smooth or slightly rough branchlets. Spikelets 3-5 mm of length. The bottom floral scales lanceolate. Blossoms in June - August. Anemophilous; apomixtic. 2n =?.

Distribution.

Endemic. Eastern Siberia (south), the Far East.

Ecology.

In birch, fur-tree and larch woods, on river pebbles and surburbs of bogs.

Use and economic value.

Fodder plant.
