Date of creation:

Scale:

1:20 000 000.

Accuracy of the map:

The map is based on data of herbarium specimens and 1:13 000 000 - 1:35 000 000 scale maps.

Projection:

"Albers Equal-Area Conic Projection for USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0

Basic contents:

The map is a vector file consisting of polygons and dots. The localities of the species are represented by the dots; the area of possible species distribution is represented by the polygons.

Accuracy of the qualifier:

The dots represent information on the species localities according to published sources and herbarium specimens. The polygons are based on generalized information from published sources and herbarium specimens.

Method of the map construction:

The data on the species distribution were obtained from the database of the species localities coordinates included in the Information Retrieval System "Crop Wild Relatives in Russia" (STC Informregistr 0229905883, 1999) and from published maps by Svjaseva in " Ranges of trees and shrubs of the USSR" (Sokolov et al., 1980), Grossheim (1952).
The northern and southern borders of the range of this European species are drawn after Svjaseva (Sokolov et al., 1980), the northeastern and eastern ones according to LE herbarium specimens referred to in the database of the Information Retrieval System. In the Caucasus, the range borders are constructed after Svjaseva (Sokolov et al., 1980). A number of localities in Baltic States, Belorussia, Northwestern Russia, though confirmed by herbarium specimens, are not included in the polygon since they resulted from escape of cultivated specimens.
