Taxonomic position.

Family: Rosaceae Juss.; genus: Rubus L.

Morphology and biology.

Upright subshrub of 1-2 m in height. Year offshoots on a top are nutant, dark - purple, acanthaceous, naked or downy. Leaves are simple, lobate, 4-12 cm of length, 3-8 cm of width (on annual runaways leaves are more often 3-lobate, on biannual - 5-lobate. Lobes are acute, the average lobe is extended more strongly, than lateral ones. The basis of leaf can be truncated or heart-shaped. Edge of leaf is non-uniformly macroserrate. Leaves from above can be naked or downy, from below almost naked, from both sides are green, an autumn time - yellow or bright red. Petioles are 3-6 cm in length, with the bent prickles. Flowers are in capitate.s drooping inflorescences on short downy glandular peduncles. Calyx lobes are sharp, outside almost naked and glandular, on edges and inside are tomentose pubescent. Corolla is white, up to 2 cm in diameter. Fruits are spherical, about 1,5 cm in diameter, dark red or orange, brilliant. Stones are semispherical. Shade-resistant. Blossoms in June, fructifies in July - August.

Distribution.

The general distribution: China, Korea, Japan, Primorsky Krai. In territory of the former USSR: the Amur area, Primorsky Krai.

Ecology.

In rarefied woods, in thickets of bushes, on marges, glades, cuttings down.

Use and economic value.

Bee-plant, medicinal and berry plant. Can be used as an ornamental for borders and green hedges.
