Date of creation:

1:20 000 000.Accuracy of the map:
The map is based on data of herbarium specimens and 1:13 000 000 - 1:35 000 000 scale maps.Projection:
"Albers Equal-Area Conic Projection for USSR", 9, 1001, 7, 100, 0, 44, 68, 0, 0Basic contents:
The map is a vector file consisting of polygons and dots. The localities of the species are represented by the dots; the area of possible species distribution is represented by the polygons.Accuracy of the qualifier:
The dots represent information on the species localities according to published sources and herbarium specimens. The polygons are based on generalized information from published sources and herbarium specimens.Method of the map construction:
The data on the species distribution were obtained from the database of the species localities coordinates included in the Information Retrieval System "Crop Wild Relatives in Russia" (STC Informregistr 0229905883, 1999) and from published maps by Svjaseva in "Ranges of trees and shrubs of the USSR" (Sokolov et al., 1980), Grossheim (1952), and from Internet site http://www.ipgri.cgiar.org .The species has a disjunctive range. The borders of the range parts within Western Ukraine, Moldavia and the Crimea are drawn after Svjaseva (Sokolov et al., 1980). In the Caucasus, the northern and western borders are drawn after Svjaseva (Sokolov et al., 1980); the northeastern, eastern and southern borders are drawn after Grossheim (1952) and according to herbarium specimens referred to in the database of the Information Retrieval System. The species locality in the Kherson environs, though confirmed by a herbarium specimen, is not included in the polygons since this finding is probably a result of naturalization of this frequently cultivated species.
