Perennial herb, glabrous or slightly pubescent. Stems ribbed, erect or ascending, slightly clasping, 30-70 cm high. Stipules arrow-shaped, dentated. Leaves pinnate (13-15 pairs of leaflets). Leaflets covered by sparse appressed hairs, lance-oblong or lance-linear. Racemes with common flower. Flower stalk is curved, its length is equal to the calyx. The toothes of the calyx are not equal to each other. Corolla purple or violet, standard oblong, rounded or refused in the upper part. Keel is pale-violet and shorter than the standard. Pods brown, not large (2-2.5 cm length, 1.0-1.5 cm width), almost rhomb-shaped with curved thin beak, 2-3 seeded. Seeds globular, slightly compressed. Self-compatible plant, cross-pollinated mainly by bees. Blossoms June-July, seeds ripening July-August. 2n=12 (14).Distribution.

Occurs in rare woods, in bushes, at dry slopes, along forests. line and along rivers on steppe meadows (from 700 to 2200m. above sea level).Utilization and economic value.
Perspective forage crop for meadows improvement for forest zone with enough humidity. Characterized by high seed productivity in unfavorable years.Literature:
